
Meins G. S. Coetsier
Dr. Meins G. S. Coetsier is a Dutch philosopher, director of the Centre of Eric Voegelin Studies (EVS) at Ghent University and staff member and researcher at the Etty Hillesum Research Centre (EHOC). He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and a Master of Arts degree from the Milltown College of Theology and Philosophy, Ireland, and a PhD in Philosphy from Ghent University, Belgium.
He enrolled for a second PhD at the Etty Hillesum Research Centre (EHOC) of the Department of Languages and cultures of the Near East and North Africa, Ghent University. His Current PhD research in Comparative Science of Cultures (FWO scholarship) is an analysis of The Letters and Diaries of Etty Hillesum 1941-1943 in the light of Eric Voegelin, Martin Buber, Emmanuel Levinas en Dietrich Bonhoeffer. In the context of studies in culture, mysticism, religion, ethics and political philosophy, he is studying human consciousness in the concrete.
His latest book, Etty Hillesum and The Flow of Presence: A Voegelinian Analysis, was published in Spring, 2008 by the University of Missouri Press. Meins is married to Dorothea Coetsier-Fuhrmann, a German theologian.
